Judge’s Comments:

Bill Churchwell brings a deft touch to his reports on KIII-TV. His writing is so clear it seems to snap viewers to attention – opening a story on the murder of a young girl with “Those pigtails, that innocent smile,” for example. This entry includes a range of stories – from hurricane-devastated Port Aransas to the local school library. In each, Churchill’s depth of experience, emotional intelligence and humor provide depth and authenticity to his work. In my opinion, he deserves the Best TV Reporter Award.
