UPDATE: The Headliners Foundation has rescheduled this year’s An Evening with Verne Lundquist event for Monday, Nov. 8, 2021, at the Headliners Club. All Underwriter packages and tickets for the original date will be honored.
In 2019, the Headliners Foundation teamed up with Verne Lundquist to create the Verne Lundquist Sports Media Institute, designed to provide training, online learning, grants and scholarships to high school and college sports journalism students based on demonstrated interest and potential, as well as financial need. Funds from this event fund programming for the Institute.
Our 2nd annual fundraiser will again be held at the Headliners Club in Austin. The evening includes an elegant seated dinner and storytelling from the sidelines by Verne Lundquist and legendary Dallas Cowboys quarterback Roger Staubach. Underwriters and VIP ticket holders have the added benefit of enjoying a private cocktail reception with Verne, Roger and other celebrity guests prior to the event.

In 2019, the Headliners Foundation teamed up with The UT Center for Sports Communication & Media/UT Moody College of Communication to provide real-world broadcasting experience for sports journalism students. A grant from the Verne Lundquist Sports Media Institute provided funding for a broadcast boot camp where students learned how to produce live sports broadcasts.
