“Austin mother works to bring deaf community together”

KVUE-TV
November 06, 2016

With one of the largest deaf communities in the country, Austin has many residents who are deaf and in need of certain outlets. Many of these people also speak out for more equality in today’s society, but they tell me they can’t always get their message out as it is sometimes difficult to do so. In telling the story of this deaf mother and what she is trying to accomplish, this piece highlights a new form of sign language for the city’s deaf community while also showing a need for a change in perspective when it comes to deaf people.
