The Headliners Foundation recognized its Charles E. Green journalism contest winners and this year’s scholarship recipients at its annual Mike Quinn Awards Luncheon at the Headliners Club in Austin. Featured speaker, Tom Johnson, former chief executive at the Los Angeles Times and CNN, gave a no-holds-barred interview by former Austin CBS anchorman, Neal Spelce, during which Johnson answered questions that ranged from whether lines can be drawn in the sand between the presidential press office and the rest of the press corp, the future relationship between internet journalism, print and broadcast, and his opinions about the best and worst journalists today. Watch the interview below.

The luncheon is named in honor of longtime journalist and Foundation Board member, the late Associate Dean Mike Quinn, whose tireless work with the Foundation’s Contest Committee brought recognition to hundreds of deserving Texas journalists.
